Kooringal offers exciting Sandbar opportunity

Kooringal Stud supporters have the exciting opportunity to get involved on the ground level with blueblood stallion SANDBAR.

Lifetime nominations are being offered in the multiple stakes-winner, as the three-quarter brother to Golden Slipper hero FARNAN heads into his first season at stud.

“Opportunities like this do not come around very often,” Kooringal’s Angus Lamont said.

“He’s a lovely athletic type and a three-quarter brother to champion two-year-old Farnan ... we are thrilled to have been able to secure him.”

SANDBAR will stand his inaugural season at a fee of $8800 (inc GST) alongside another stud newcomer LAST KINGDOM ($6600 inc GST), the dual Group 1 winner PRIZED ICON ($11,000 inc GST) and emerging sire THE BROTHERS WAR (price on application).

There are two options for the purchase of a lifetime nomination in SANDBAR.

A one-off payment of $17,600 (inc GST) can be made this year or two payments of $8800 (inc GST) over 2021 and ’22.

The holder of each lifetime nomination is entitled to send either two mares to SANDBAR this season or one mare in both ‘21 and ‘22, depending on the payment option.

Thereafter, the holder will be entitled to send one mare with no additional service fee for each subsequent season while SANDBAR is standing at stud.

“A lifetime nomination represents great value, if you look at the fees that other first season sires have been set at, that are arguably no better credentialed, it’s easy to see why.” Angus said.

The bay will stand at Kooringal Stud for a minimum of five years, with the Lifetime Nomination remaining valid should SANDBAR be sold.

SANDBAR arrived at Kooringal with outstanding credentials.

The son of champion sire SNITZEL was a $650,000 purchase at the 2017 Magic Millions Yearling Sales.

SANDBAR’S dam TALLOW was a Group 3 winner but is best known for producing FARNAN, whose pinnacle performance from five wins as a two-year-old was the $3.5 million Golden Slipper in 2020.

FARNAN’S sire NOT A SINGLE DOUBT and SNITZEL are both sons of the outstanding REDOUTE’S CHOICE.

SANDBAR proved he had the ability to match his breeding, winning the Listed Lonhro Stakes at Warwick Farm as a juvenile and going on to claim the Listed Rosebud at Rosehill at three.

A close-up fourth to THE AUTUMN SUN in the Group 1 Golden Rose and to hold the last start Gr. 1 Blue Diamond winner, Written By to a 0.2L second in the Gr. 3 Pago Pago, beating the rest of the field by 4L, were a couple of other career highlight for SANDBAR.
