Power Alert Claims Stakes For ALERT

When POWER ALERT claimed the LR Silks Run over 1000m at Gulfstream Park (Florida, USA) on Saturday, landed resident sire ALERT (Arg) his first stakes winner in a time of 55.80s on turf, very close to ALERT's own G1 victory time of 55.20s for 1000m on turf.  Bred and raced by long time clients Jim and Alba Power, out of resident mare Gold Locket (by Lochrae), POWER ALERT won four races in Australia under trainer Trevor Sutherland, including the Wellington Boot, before bleeding for a second time and barred from racing in Australia.  He was subsequently exported to Florida-based trainer Bryan Lynch, on recommendation of his brother and Murrumbidgee Turf Club track superintendant Mick Lynch, who had watched the horse work each day at the track.  After settling in with his new trainer, and medicated on Lasix to help control his bleeding, POWER ALERT was successful on debut at Gulfstream Park on 21st December 2014 for his connections before stepping straight up to black type company on the weekend.  POWER ALERT will be aimed at the G3 Shakertown Stakes in Keeneland on Easter Saturday and the G3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Oaks Day.

POWER ALERT joins the likes of Miss Alibi and Eyes On Guard in representing their sire amongst black type company.  Meanwhile ALERT enjoyed a successful weekend closer to home, scoring a winning double at Scone on the weekend with Bolivian Dash notching up his 6th win and Sky Mission claiming the Class 2 Handicap.
