The fighting tiger of Australian racing, Court’s In
Session has done it again with a customary hard going,
tough performance to win the $125,000 Hunter Star Motors
Cameron Handicap over 1400m at Newcastle.
One of the toughest horse in training, Court’s In
Session was attacked early, first by Mac Tune before
Gorgonite had a go but he pulled his way along the rails
to lead.
Court’s In Session rolled along at a good tempo before
Tall Timbers made a lightning move at the 600m
reminiscent to his win in the Newcastle Newmarket
earlier in the year and on straightening it was on for
your life.
In the straight, Courts In Session was still looking
strong while Malcolm was just starting to get clear and
let down quickly, looming up like the winner but the
seven-year-old lumping 60.5kg, Court's In Session had a
kick.
Malcolm got to within a half length off him but didn’t
get closer till he again started to close over the final
50m when it was too late.
Court’s In Session ($3.50) defeated Malcolm ($2.60) by a
half head with the underrated Mac’s Tune ($51) two and a
quarter lengths back in third.
Court’s In Session stopped the clock on 1.22.24 (last
600m 35.18), only 0.31 behind Hey Pronto’s track record
set in the Newcastle Newmarket in 2002.
Court’s In Session has now registered 14 wins and eight
placings from 30 starts and his career earnings to over
$1.4 million dollars.
