Saturday 29th July
One of
Australia’s classiest and most reliable stallions is
Bureaucracy (Lord Ballina – Tulla Doll by Oncidium) who
on Saturday was represented by his ninth stakes winner –
the exciting three-year-old Reshuffles finishing on from
nowhere to take out the Dermody Stakes-LR at Cheltenham.
Settling well back in the field of 13, the Jeremy Gask
trained filly powered home over the final stages to
overhaul the speedy juveniles Aadelaidee and Follow The
Till.
Recording the third win of her eight start career,
Reshuffles (interestingly bred on a 3 X 3 cross of
Bletchingly) is typical of the Bureaucracy breed – tough
and consistent. Unplaced only twice, she looks to have a
bright future.
Also the sire of the Gr.1 winners Court’s In Session and
Mr Bureaucrat, and the Group winners Noircir, Normal
Practice and Desk Top Lover, Bureaucracy boasts an
excellent winners to runners strike rate of 65.8% - and
he looks to have another good season ahead of him.
An exciting sprinter/miler who won five of his 12
starts, Bureaucracy competed only at the highest level –
defeating Comrade, Stylish Century and Mr Tiz when
taking out the George Ryder Stakes-Gr.1, proving too
good for Storaia and Canny Lad in the Ascot Vale
Stakes-Gr.2 and too smart for With Me in the Roman
Consul Stakes-Gr.3.
Going close to a Gr.1 treble, Bureaucracy was also
second to Redelva (beating home Planet Ruler and Stylish
Century) in the Futurity Stakes and second to
Shaftesbury Avenue (Lightning Bend third, Wrap Around
fourth) in the Lightning Stakes-Gr.1.
Despite never serving large books of mares, Bureaucracy
has done extremely well at stud, boasting progeny
earnings in excess of $10.7 million. And he is now
making his name as a broodmare sire – his daughters to
date producing five stakes winners including the
champion Silent Witness and the up and coming filly
Rustia.
At $5,500 (including gst), Bureaucracy is Australia’s
best value proven stallion. He upgrades his mares and
passes on his own superior conformation.
Rising 19,
Bureaucracy is “in great shape” according to Kooringal
Stud’s Stuart Lamont. “You would know how old he is,” he
enthused, “he still looks extremely fit and well.”

Reshuffle Surging to the line.
