Power Alert, by former Kooringal sire Alert, has ended the year on a high winning the Turf Dash at Tampa Bay Downs by 3 and half lengths in 55.25 seconds for the 1000m
Power Alert had a strong 2016 season as a 6-year-old, compiling a record of 10-3-4-1 and earning $254,062. His campaign included wins in the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint and the Silks Run Stakes, a pair of five-furlong turf sprints at Gulfstream Park; a second-place finish in the Grade 3 Parx Dash and the Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational.
For his career, Power Alert has won 10 of 29 starts and earned $546,156. Trained by Brian Lynch, Power Alert has five stakes wins in the U.S., including a score in the Grade 3 Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs in 2015. He finished third in the 2016 edition of that race.
Lynch has confirmed that Power Alert will be pointed toward a defence of his titles in the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint and the Silks Run later this winter.
