THE BROTHERS WAR AT KOORINGAL

Brothers Angus and Richie are most certainly not at war here at Kooringal, in fact quite the opposite is true - they are delighted to announce the acquisition of THE BROTHERS WAR (USA) who will be joining the stallion ranks for 2015 at Kooringal.

THE BROTHERS WAR is by War Front, one of the hottest young sires on the planet; War Front is the sire of 34 stakes winners to date, including DECLARATION OF WAR standing at Coolmore for $27,500, and THE FACTOR at Newgate for $22,000.  His dam is the multiple Group winning Sadler’s Wells mare MOON QUEEN who is out of the seven time and Group 1 Woodbine Rothmans International S. winner INFAMY (by Shirley Heights).  All foals out of MOON QUEEN are winners, four are black type performers including Group 3 winner BEAUTY PARLOUR.

Although from a classic staying family, THE BROTHERS WAR was blessed with plenty of speed, winning at Stakes level and being placed in 10 of his 13 race starts between 1000m and 1400m on turf in the UK, France, Canada and the USA.  As well as his race performance, THE BROTHERS WAR was particularly chosen by Kooringal for his pedigree and how well his bloodlines will complement so many mares in Australian broodmare bands.  The cross of Sadler’s Wells with Shirley Heights mares, or through his son Darshaan, has produced 50 stakes winners including 12 Gr 1 winners.  These matings particularly feature inbreeding to the Djeddah mare Lalun who is influential in so many modern Australian pedigrees, including that of 5 time Gr 1 winner PIERRO who possesses Lalun’s bloodline four times.  Notably, a large number of ZARIZ’s best horses are also line bred to Lalun through her sire sons Never Bend and Bold Reason.

THE BROTHERS WAR is from the same family as a host of black type horses and sires including DUBAWI who produced 86 stakes winners from less than 700 starters for almost AUD$90 Million in earnings to date, including the Australian Gr 1 winners TIGER TEES, SHAMAL WIND and SECRET ADMIRER as well as 15 time winning mare CATKINS.

“Kooringal is delighted to be able to offer our clients the opportunity to access these world class bloodlines that will suit so many broodmares in the Australian market” said stud manager Angus Lamont.

THE BROTHERS WAR has only just turned 5 and is currently in Kentucky undergoing quarantine.  He will arrive at Kooringal around mid May in good time to let down for the season.

THE BROTHERS WAR will stand at the introductory fee of $10,000 plus GST and a limited number of lifetime nominations will be available.  If you would like some advice on your mare/s mating this season, please contact Angus Lamont: angus@kooringalstud.com.au or 0429 842 875.
